As a result of brush pickup, mulch is available for your use. Mulching around trees and bushes is an excellent landscaping tool. Nutrients are provided, soil stays moist longer, there is less lawn to mow, and mowers do not scar trunks and stems.
The mulch bin is located on the Northeast corner of 14th and Westmore/Meyers in Lombard. Wood chips are available for self-serve pick up. The gate is available to be unlocked anytime Monday - Friday, 7:00a.m. - 3:00p.m. (closed weekends and holidays). Please contact the Highway Department at (630) 627-2200 or [email protected] if you would like to set up a time.
Wood chips are delivered twice a year (once in Spring and Fall). Please contact the Highway Department to be put on the list as quantity is limited. We cannot guarantee the quality of the mulch. However, many homeowners tell us our mulch is good material.
At the present time there is no charge for this service.
*Note: Our right-of-way tree removal and trimming will be done during winter months.
