Senior Assistance Center
The Township offers a wide range of services designed to support and enhance the well-being of our senior community. These include a medical lending closet, Benefit Access assistance, and S.H.I.P. (Senior Health Insurance Program). Our knowledgeable staff is always ready to lend a helping hand—whether that means answering questions, guiding you through available resources, or connecting you with the right services to meet your needs.
Medical Lending Closet

We provide short-term medical equipment loans for a variety of medical equipment which include wheelchairs, walkers, canes, commodes, shower benches and more. You can borrow these items for three months at a time. This health equipment loan program is available free of charge. Availability is dependent on demand and donations. Please call the Senior Center to see if we have what you need!
Benefit Access

The Benefit Access Program (formerly Circuit Breaker) is an income-based program which provides discounted license plate fees, and allows qualified applicants to obtain an RTA Ride Free Card. Seniors and disabled individuals who meet the financial eligibility guidelines may apply for the Benefit Access Program provided by the Illinois Department of Aging (IDOA). Please contact the Senior Center to make an appointment.
S.H.I.P. (State Health Insurance Program)

S.H.I.P. provides free individual counseling services and is dedicated to educating people with Medicare and their caregivers about insurance options. S.H.I.P. counselors can answer questions about: Medicare, Medicare Supplement Insurance, Medicare Advantage Plus, Prescription Drug Coverage through Medicare and other sources, long-term care insurance, Medicare claims and appeals and Medicare beneficiary rights and guarantees.
