Senior Events
Welcome to the Senior Center Events Page, here you will find all the outings, in-house parties, and seminars we have planned for the current and upcoming months. All outings and in-house parties require a pre-paid ticket for the event. Tickets will be sold starting on the first weekday of the month prior to the event (IE February events will be on sale January 1st). Tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis until the event is sold out. If purchasing tickets by check, please write individual checks for each separate event. No credit cards accepted. All seminars are held at the Township and are free of charge to anyone who would like to attend.
Outings
Shipshewana
Wednesday - October 16
Departure - 8:00 am
Return - 7:00 pm
Have a memorable journey into the Heart of Amish Country as you meander “Off the Beaten Path” for an authentic look into today’s Amish culture and lifestyle. We will ride on a luxury motorcoach to visit Shipshewana in Indiana. Once we arrive, we will have a local guide step on our bus, filled with area history and personal stories while we make several stops throughout the day. One of the highlights will be interacting with some Amish school children. See firsthand how 8 grades learn at the same time in one room. Other stops will include Teaberry Wood Products, a woodworking shop, showcasing exclusive hand-crafted walnut, cherry and other hardwood items. Also on the list is Amish Rag Rug Weavers and Dutch Country Market. A delicious Threshers lunch featuring traditional farm-fresh and homemade Yoder family favorites is included.
For $91 you can enjoy lunch, all day tour and transportation.
Medium at The Mansion
Wednesday– October 23
Departure - 9:30 am
Return - 3:30 pm
Our destination will be the beautiful Jacob Henry Mansion in Joliet, Illinois. Wander around the Mansion and enjoy a self-guided tour before a tasty lunch of chicken cordon bleu—boneless breast of chicken served open with ham, cheese and Bearnaise sauce—with potatoes vegetables and dessert. After lunch we will participate in a group reading by Psychic Medium Michael Gourley, one of the “Top 10 Chicago Psychics.” Micheal will explain how he uses his gifts to deliver messages from loved ones in spirit and will deliver any messages that come through for guests—there may even be a message for you!
Tickets at $87 include self-guided tour, lunch, group reading and transportation.

Sanfilippo Estate Tour
Wednesday - November 6
Departure - 10:00 am
Return - 5:30 pm
Our first stop will be at Chessie’s Restaurant where we will dine in a 1927 Illinois Railroad Dining Car. Lunch will be buffet style, including salad, chicken piccata, beef stroganoff, mashed potatoes and green beans.
After lunch we will tour the beautiful Sanfilippo Estate, which is known world-wide for the largest collection of restored automatic musical instruments in the world, including: music boxes and phonographs, coin-operated pianos, violin machines, photoplayers, American and European orchestrations, dance organs, fairground and band organs, calliopes and the world’s largest indoor theatre pipe organ.
Tickets at $89 include lunch, tour and transportation.
Remembering Marshall Fields
Thursday– November 14
Departure - 9:30 am
Return - 3:30 pm
Our destination will be to the beautiful Jacob Henry Mansion in Joliet, Illinois. Wander around the Mansion and enjoy a self guided tour before a tasty lunch consisting of salad, meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy, steamed vegetables and dessert. After lunch we will see an illustrative presentation by Leslie Goddard of the Marshall Fields store’s beloved holiday traditions, including the Walnut Room Christmas tree, holiday window displays and Christmas catalog. For many Chicagoans, no Christmas season is complete without a visit to Marshall Fields, the city’s grand dame of department stores, you will not want to miss this seasonal favorite down memory lane.
