Raised in unincorporated Maine Township near Des Plaines, Engy now lives in Elmhurst with her husband and two children. A first-generation Egyptian-American, she grew up speaking both English and Arabic and brings an inclusive, community-minded perspective to her work in public service.
A Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), Engy has 20 years of experience in financial planning, actuarial forecasting, and policy analysis. In her current role as a senior actuarial leader in the healthcare sector, she advises on multi-billion-dollar budgets and delivers strategic insight, fiscal leadership, and oversight across Medicare, pharmacy, and federal health programs. She is known for her collaborative leadership style, analytical rigor, and commitment to ethical, community-first decision-making.
Engy holds a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and previously served as an elected member of a Local School Council in Chicago, where she worked on budgeting, hiring, and school planning.
She remains active in the community as Treasurer and Assistant Troop Leader for her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop and as a parent volunteer at the Elementary. She believes good governance starts with listening to the community, using data to drive decisions, and making local government work better for everyone.
